Our History

Founded in May 2024, Shamrock Sióga is Ireland’s first LGBTQ+ basketball team. What started as a small social group has quickly grown into a competitive club with players of all levels — from absolute beginners picking up a ball for the first time, to experienced players looking to keep competing.

We’ve already represented our community abroad, playing in tournaments in Lyon, London, and Oslo, and building connections with other LGBTQ+ clubs across Europe.

Our goal is simple: to create a safe, welcoming space where everyone can enjoy the game, make friends, and celebrate diversity on and off the court.

This season, you can look forward to skill-building practices, league matches, social nights, community fundraisers, and international events that keep our team growing stronger.
